Monday, 31 August 2020 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inspected the flood affected areas of the State by helicopter. Chouhan took stock of the flood affected areas of the State on the second day on Sunday.

He had viewed flood affected areas of Hoshangabad, Sehore, Raisen today while today he again viewed the submerged areas of Hoshangabad, Sehore and Raisen districts apart from Dewas, Harda and Vidisha districts.

Chief Minister Chouhan held a telephonic discussion with the concerned district collectors to seek detailed information of the flood situation in the affected areas, affected population, loss of life or property, and regarding safety of cattle, crops and food grain.

Chouhan held a high-level review meeting at the CM House this morning and sought information on the effects of heavy rains on the life of the people and the relief work being undertaken in the State. Chouhan then proceeded to inspect flood affected areas of six districts by helicopter. The Chief Minister has instructed the collectors to remain active and ready to help the affected people in this crisis situation.

In view of waterlogging in the lower settlements, the citizens should be shifted to other places on time. The control panel must work actively. The assistance of Police, Home Guards, Army and Disaster Management Team should be sought immediately if necessary. Chouhan also obtained information about security arrangements made in all rural and urban areas.

He said that there are adequate arrangements for divers, boats, helicopters etc to deal with the emergency.

People should not attempt to cross bridges and culverts on roads if there is flood water. The public should take care of themselves and people should avoid visiting picnic spots. Information as regard to opening of the gates is given due to increase in water level of the dams but many people do not take it seriously.

The State Government is ready to help common man. But it is very important for common man to remain alert.

Disaster management teams posted in districts are ready to assist people in all kinds of crisis.
