Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated a 300-bed Covid hospital building costing Rs 1012 lakh at the Pandit Ram Sumer Shukl Government medical college in Rudrapur on Thursday.
At the government medical college, the CM also inaugurated respiratory and skin disease block, radiology block and World Bank funded oxygen supply pipeline work.
Rawat also inaugurated and unveiled the foundation stones for a number of developmental works in Rudrapur, Kashipur, Gadarpur and Khatima.
Earlier while chairing a review meeting in Rudrapur along with Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik who is also minister in-charge of the district, the CM expressed satisfaction at the work and arrangements made by the district administration in view of Covid-19. Stressing that awareness and precautions are necessary to stall the spread of Covid, he said that the usage of masks, use of sanitisers and maintaining social distancing should be clearly communicated to the public.
Action should be taken against anyone who does not wear a mask, violates social distancing or breaks other regulations. In this phase of contagion all should understand their responsibility and cooperate, he said. The CM said that with the help of the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the State Government is arranging for the latest equipment.
From the viewpoint of Covid-19, the coming time is very important and sensitive considering which it is essential to observe all necessary precautions.The CM stressed on the need for work on local produce based growth centres to facilitate self employment for non-resident Uttarakhandis and local residents. Stating that the Udham Singh Nagar district is known for farmers and industrialists, Rawat said that these two sections contribute considerably to the development of the state. He said that the state government had initiated efforts towards developing Pantnagar airport in the form of an international airport.
Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik appealed those returning to the state to strictly follow quarantine rules while also directing officials to take strict action against those breaking the rules.
The minister said that saving every citizen is the first priority of the government. The number of people returning from various states is increasing. Considering this, adequate facilities must be maintained in Covid hospitals, Covid care centres and quarantine centres.
He directed officials to regularly check those under institutional or home quarantine, adding that action be taken against anyone found violating quarantine.MLAs Rajkumar Thukral, HS Cheema, Pushkar Singh Dhami, district magistrate Neeraj Khairwal and others were also present in meeting.
