CCL PR head Dipak Kumar retires

Monday, 31 August 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), Head of Department, Public Relation (PR), Dipak Kumar retired on Sunday after serving the organisation for four decades.

Well known and well connected, Kumar has been associated with the company for a very long time. The company will definitely miss his wisdom and his experience which he gathered after working for around 40 years, officials said. He is not only well known among journalist fraternity but also popular among internal people and staff of the company due to his affable approach.

Kumar started his career from the position of a Stenographer in February, 1982.  Since then he never looked back and gradually he was moving upward in a regular interval. After completing his Journalism from Ranchi University he joined the Public Relation (PR) department of CCL as a PR Assistant in 1989. In 1996 he got promotion and Kumar became PR Executive of the company and after working for 14 years as PR Executive he got promotion and became Head of Department PR of CCL in 2010.

Countless times Kumar rescued the company through his well knitted connection and managerial acumen.  Kumar says that the PR Department releases bilingual press releases regularly to put forward the company’s stand on contemporary issues.

“I am a workaholic and I believe in completing the work instead of keeping it pending. The PR means not only public relation but P in PR stands for patience and performance. A PR department official has to keep patience and performance is also very necessary to get desired results in the PR field. The R of PR not only stands for relations but it also stands for recognition. A PRO’s work should be recognised,” said Kumar.

Kumar set the definition of PR himself by displaying exemplary work in the field. He said the mainstream media relation is not only important in this field it is only one part of the PR work. A PR official should keep good relations with its own people and internal staff also, he added.

On various mega events organised at national and international level Kumar ensured representation of CCL. On the occasion of BRICS Conference organised in New Delhi in 2012 only one public sector company- CCL participated. CCL installed a cut-off of former Indian Cricket Team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the Conference with a written punch line of ‘’ Team India Bats For CCL’. The CCL was awarded for most numbers of visitors at its stall.

Kumar enjoyed enormous respect from his colleagues as Deputy Manager PR, Anupam Rana said that he is a mentor and his vast experience provided a very good opportunity to learn in the PR field. Due to his friendly behaviour any work becomes easier and the entire PR team will definitely miss him, he added.
