Be vigilant, AIIMS tells New Year revellers

The experts of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh have warned that in view of the continuing threat of Covid-19, one should not get negligent while celebrating the arrival of the New Year. They also point out that apart from fever, cold and cough, diarrhoea is also a symptom of Covid-19.

The associate professor and Head of Department of General Medicine at AIIMS- Rishikesh, Dr Minakshi Dhar said that diarrhoea is also a symptom of Covid. She said that fever, cough, cold, body ache and headache are the main symptoms of Covid.

The assistant Professor of General medicine, Dr Mukesh Bairwa said, “Corona is now coming out in various forms. Apart from normal symptoms those who are unable to detect taste and aroma should also get their Covid-19 test done immediately.’’

He added that those who are not getting their tests done even after getting infected, are putting their entire family in danger. Lung damage can occur if not treated on time. Dr Bairwa also advised that one should not be negligent in celebrating the New Year and visiting crowded places should be avoided.

The director of the AIIMS Rishikesh, Ravikant said that due to the rising Covid-19 graph in Uttarakhand, people need to be more vigilant and careful.
