In view of the surge in coronavirus cases in Banpur NAC of Khordha district, the district administration on Saturday declared the NAC as a Containment Zone for two days to prevent spread of the virus.
With this, public and vehicle movement has been strictly prohibited in the NAC. Except a few medicine stores, all other shops and business establishments would remain closed during the period. Nodal officers have been appointed for various works, including contact tracing and follow-up action. Notably, a rising number of positive cases are being reported from the district in the last couple of days. Around 20 positive cases have so far been reported from Banpur. On Saturday, nine positive cases had been reported from the district, including two from Banpur.
