Friday, 31 July 2020 | PNS | BALANGIR

In view of Covid positive cases rising, the Balangir district administration has imposed a four-day shutdown in Bolangir district from July 31 to August 3, informed district Collector Arindum Dakua in a video statement.

So far, the district has reported 406 cases out of which 280 have recovered and 120 are undergoing treatment at different Covid Hospitals in the district.

A shocking incident occurred here on Wednesday night. A pregnant woman, Pramila Harpal (35), of Malgodampada of Balangir town was admitted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College Heospital here. Following birth, the woman was given a Copper T. However, she bled heavily thereafter and subsequently died.

“She bled heavily as a vain of her was cut during installation of the Copper T, alleged Drona kumbhar, a relative of the woman. He demanded adequate compensation for the deceased’s family.

“We have formed a committee to inquire into the unfortunate incident and action will be taken against the guilty. We will extend all possible Government assistance to the deceased family,” said medical college Superintendent Dr Mahendra Naik.
