The BJP led by its district president Shibaji Mohanty, Loisingha MLA Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Annant Das and others submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, through the Collector Balangir.
They demanded opening plasma therapy treatment for Covid 19 people at Balangir and opposed the decision of the Government of taking medical personnel including doctors from KBK region to Ganjam to deal with the Covid 19 situation there and collection of money given to farmers under KALIA Yojana.
"We condemn the decision of the Government to take away medical personnel including doctors from the KBK region to Ganjam district to tackle the Covid 19 situation there as it would further weaken the healthcare facilities in KBK region. As such, the healthcare facilities in KBK region is poor. The taking away of medical personnel including doctors at a time when the Covid 19 positive cases are growing in the region is making the lives of people more precarious," said BJP Bolangir unit president Shibaji Mohanty.
"We urge farmers not to return money provided under the KALIA Yojana. The money was given by the Government and if it has gone to ineligible farmers, then it the fault of the officals. Why the money should not be recovered from concerned officials," asked Mohanty further.
"The farmers are in distressed condition after the prolonged lockdown and shutdown since March last. Cultivation has just started in the Kharif season. The last date for insurance payment of Kharif crop is July 31. We demand to extend the deadline for Kharif crop insurance till August 31 so that the farmers would be benefited," said Loisingha MLA Dr Mukesh Mahaling.
