Vigilance officials on Wednesday recovered cash of over Rs 18 lakh during raids at multiple places in connection with allegations against Prashant Kumar Nayak, DLR Typist, Lingaraj Law College, Brahmapur, regarding possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Simultaneous searches were carried out at Nayak’s triple-storied building-cum-motor spare parts shop at Aska Road, another triple-storied residential building at Bank Colony, double-storied godown at Aska Road, his rented godown at Brundabati Nagar and his rented godown at Bishnunagar, all in Berhampur. Till last reports came in, the searches were underway. Vigilance officials also raided multiple places in Jagatsinghpur district and Bhubaneswar in connection with allegations against Rabindra Senapati, ASI of Police, regarding possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The raids were conducted at his parental house at Panchapalli, his house at Mukundapur, Jagatsinghpur, and his flat at Hanspal in Bhubaneswar.
So far, more than 10 passbooks, gold ornaments, three houses worth over Rs 1.5 crore and a locker possessed by Senapati and his family members have been detected. Till last reports came in, the raids and calculation of total value of his movable and immovable assets were underway. In yet another disproportionate assets (DA) case, Vigilance officials on the day recovered gold biscuits and cash of Rs 16.32 lakh from the residence of Bibhuti Shankar Bindhani, Junior Accountant, WESCO, Balangir.
The officials carried out simultaneous searches at his residence near Circuit House and his office in Palace Lane at Balangir.Apart from cash, gold ornaments and gold biscuits were also recovered during the raids, which were underway till last reports came in.
