The Ranchi district administration has once again taken action against public distribution system (PDS) dealers. Eight PDSs dealers have been suspended after they were found of committing irregularities in ration distribution. With the district administration initiating action against eight PDS dealers on Wednesday, the number of PDSs dealers who have been suspended in past week has gone up to 20. Earlier, the district administration has suspended 12 PDSs dealers.
The PDSs dealers are accused of giving less ration in weight to beneficiaries, not giving ration to beneficiaries despite getting thumb impression of beneficiaries and giving one month ration to beneficiaries while making entry of two month ration in PDS record.
The district administration on the complaint of beneficiaries had carried out a probe by the Block Development Officer/Zonal Officer/Block Supply Officer. The officials in their investigation found the allegations true. Meanwhile, the district administration has also sought explanation from concerned PDSs dealers why their licenses are not cancelled. The PDS dealers who have been suspended includes, Aasiya Rozgar Samuh ward number 10-36, Rajesh Kumar Sahu Kanke block, Jeevan Jyoti Women’s Group Ratu Block, Ugta Suraj Mahila Samakhya group, Ratu, Jharkhand Mahila Samiti, Sonahatu, Nitesh Kumar, Chanho block, Hari Oraon Chanho block and Shiva Oraon Chanho block, Ranchi.
Moreover, in another development the Ranchi district administration has made containment, micro containment zones so as to check the spread of coronavirus. The district administration has also appointed incident commander in all these containment, micro containment zones. These areas have been declared containment or micro containment zones after recovery of Covid 19 patients in these areas. Moro village under Itki block has been made as containment zone, Karanji village under Bero block has been made as containment zone. From Karanji village a corona patient was recovered on April 19. Similarly, Keso village under Bero block too has been declared as containment zone. On April 23, a person from the village was found to be corona positive. After a person tested corona positive, the district administration has declared area within the periphery of 500 m from corona patient’s house as micro containment zone in Kadru area. Similarly micro containment zone has been made at Arsande village under Kanke block, also at Upper Bazar area from Gari Khana to Sewa Sadan to Bada Talav area been made as micro containment zone after a person was tested corona positive.
