Accusing the AAP Government of conspiring to hand over Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to the private companies, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said the Kejriwal Government has brought DJB to such condition and now is bent on handing over it to the private companies by citing financial crisis.
However, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday had clearly denied the possibility of privatising the services, saying that the DJB initiated the process of appointing a consultant that would give recommendations on 24x7 water supplies to every household.
Delhi BJP president said the Kejriwal Government has not been able to fulfill its promise of laying pipelines all over Delhi in six years nor are the people of Delhi getting clean water. “The Kejriwal government has only claimed hollow and talked big in six years but has not done anything on the ground. The DJB was in profit of about Rs 176 crore and after the Kejriwal government came to power, it went in loss of about Rs 800 crore,” he said.
Gupta said the Kejriwal Government is claiming crores of rupees due to the municipal Corporations but it never discusses the deteriorating economic condition of the Municipal Corporations.
“The Delhi government has neither released the entire funds allocated to the Municipal Corporations. The result of all this is that the Delhi government has to release funds of about 18,000 crores by March 31, 2020 to all the three Municipal Corporations. After half of the current financial year 2020-21, even 25 percent of the total fund has not been released yet,” he added.
