Four persons sustained grievous injuries in a clash between a group of robbers and villagers at Haridapada under the Soro police station in Baleswar district on Saturday night.
According to reports, the robbers intercepted one Sudam Charan Bauli of the village near Pitakalia Chhak when he was returning home. He telephoned his associates for help, following which the miscreants attacked him. Moments later, some villagers reached the spot on hearing Sudam’s scream.
A violent clash erupted between the two groups, during which four persons, including Sudam, were critically injured. On being informed, police reached the place and managed to nab one of the robbers. Later, the injured were shifted to the Soro hospital.
