Monday brought some relief to the state health department battling on Covid-19 front as only eight new cases of the disease were reported on the day. On another positive note, 93 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the State on Monday which increased the tally of recovered patients in the State to 2,111. The State now has 2,831 patients of the disease with 659 active cases. The number of recovered patients in the State now has become more than three times than the active patients.

A 65-year-old patient died at Coronation hospital on Monday. His sample was later found positive for the disease. The death toll of the disease in the state has now become 39.

On the day four patients were reported from Dehradun while two each were reported from Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

On Monday 36 patients were discharged from Dehradun district while 14 and 10 patients were discharged from Udham Singh Nagar and Rudraprayag districts respectively. Eight patients were discharged from Uttarkashi and seven from Pauri district.

The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 823 samples were found negative for the disease on Monday.

He added that reports of 4353 samples are still awaited by the department.  On the day, a total of 1,412 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing.  The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 66396 suspected patients for COVID-19 test.  Out of the total samples taken, 4.75 percent samples have been found positive for the disease.

The doubling rate of disease in the state is now at 43.90 days while the recovery percent in the state is at 74.54 percent.   The state now has 749 active patients of the disease. With recovery of a large number of patients on Monday Dehradun with 117 active cases slipped to third place in the table of active cases behind Nainital (126) and Haridwar (123) in the table of active patients.

Udham Singh Nagar has 81 active patients while Tehri and Pauri have 59 and 53 active cases respectively. Almora has 20, Bageshwar and Uttarkashi 19 active patients each, Chamoli 14, Pithoragarh 13 and Rudraprayag nine active patients.  Champawat continues at the bottom of the table with six active cases.

The administration has declared 106 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 68 containment zones while Dehradun 24, Tehri 10, Udham Singh Nagar three and Uttarkashi one containment zones.
