Fuelled by old enmity, a 22-year old youth was stabbed to death at Purshottam Nagar under Bajaria police station area late in the night on Sunday.
Police said a youth who was brought in an injured condition at Hamidia hospital was declared dead. The deceased was identified as Vikram Sahu of Bajaria. He used to works as loading auto rickshaw driver.
Police were informed and on the receipt of the information a police team reached the spot and after preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post-mortem. The accused was identified as Satish Sharma alias Pandit.
During the investigation, police found that on Sunday the two faced each other in Ashoka Garden area and had a fight which was pacified by intervention of locals and later the two again met at Purushottam Nagar where Satish attacked Vikram with a sharp edged weapon in his leg and stomach and escaped the spot. Vikram was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
After the preliminary investigation body was sent for the post mortem. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
The deceased and the accused were good friends and around a year ago they had a fight while having liquor during which Satish was slapped by Vikram and after which the two never came together.
The police are also investigating role of a youth Raj in the murder.
Till the filing of the report the police were not able to trace the killers. Police told that the search for the miscreants has been intensified.
