The Special Cell of Delhi Police has nabbed two members of banned terrorist outfit ‘Khalistan Zindabad Force’ in the National Capital. Police said that the duo on Independence Day had allegedly raised a 'Khalistan' flag on the terrace of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in Punjab's Moga and also desecrated an Indian flag in the premises

The terrorists have been identified as Inderjeet Singh Gill (31) and Jaspal Singh (27), both residents of Moga district in Punjab. Police said that they were wanted in a sedition case registered at Moga, police said.

According to Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, on Saturday, specific inputs were received that two members of Khalistan Zindabad Force would be coming to Delhi to commit some anti-national activities on the directions of their foreign-based commanders.

“Acting on the specific inputs, a trap was laid near Sani Mandir, GT Karnal road when at around 6.30 pm, two persons were seen standing near Sani mandir bus stand. When police were approaching them, they started moving towards the service road coming from Singhu border, however, they were apprehended after a brief chase,” said the DCP.

“During interrogation, it was revealed that Gill used to work as a driver. On August 8, his maternal brother Jagga persuaded him to listen to a banned youtube channel 'Sikhs For Justice' and also told him to vote for Khalistan on a Whatsapp link to be sent by them and become its member. Gill subscribed to the channel and started watching it,” said the DCP.

“On August 9, Gill received a Whatsapp link where he cast his vote for Khalistan. He further said that one Rana from US and one other person give lectures on the channel delivering anti-India preaching and also ask Sikh youths to build Khalistan, wave Khalistan flag and tear the Indian flag on August 14, 15 and 16,” said the DCP.

“Rana had declared a reward of US$ 2,500 for waving the Khalistan flag and for tearing the Indian flag at Moga and a reward of US$ 1,25,000 for doing the same on the Red Fort and other historical buildings,” said the DCP.

“In the early morning of August 14, Gill, along with Jaspal and one Akashdeep Singh, went to the DC Office. Gill and Jaspal went to the terrace and hoisted the Khalistan flag. Thereafter, they lowered the Indian flag and tore it into pieces. Akashdeep, who was standing outside the DC office, was making a video,” said the DCP.

“The duo conveyed it to Rana on Whatsapp and sent all videos to him. After a couple of days, Akashdeep was arrested by Moga Police. Since then, they both were on the run. They were planning to go to Nepal and reach Pakistan for training, but were apprehended, said the DCP adding that Punjab Police has been informed.
