Under the slum upgradation programme, Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena distributed land entitlement certificates among of the beneficiaries in slums of the town here. As many as 2,054 beneficiaries were given the certificates while earlier 1,038 families were given pattas.
On the occasion, Jena said that the beneficiaries were identified by a drone survey across the State and in Baleswar district, out of 4,958 identified families, 3,195 families would be issued the land entitlement certificates.
In a function, Jena while distributed the certificates on Monday among the slum dwellers of various areas under the Baleswar Municipality, he said that these beneficiaries would be provided light, water, drain and paving roads etc under the scheme. The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Pataink through video conferencing and Baleswar is the first district where the programme was held.
Jena also said that the scheme was historic and received the World Habitat Award. About 60,000 families would issued such certificates across the State following the survey, he added.Besides district Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, other officials of the district were present.
