The 108 ambulance service has put its entire fleet into alert mode in view of the celebrations on New Year eve. The data of the service shows that the number of accidents related emergencies increases on the night of December 31.
The service has also cancelled leaves of its entire staff on December 31 and January 1. On Wednesday the General Manager Projects of the service, Anil Verma took a meeting with the officials of the service and directed them to prepare the service to meet any exigency.
He said that the fleet of ambulances should be kept on high alert as people celebrate New Year. He said that the service has made all preparation and made technical arrangements so that the ambulances don’t get stuck in traffic jams.
Sharma said that the ambulances would be stationed at Survey Chowk, Clock Tower, Jakhan, Raipur, Ballupur Chowk, Prem Nagar, Vidhan Sabha and Race Course in Dehradun for quick response to any emergency situation on New Year eve.
The data available with the service show that it received 71 road accident calls on December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020.
In view of expected increase in the number of calls made to the emergency service, additional staff would be deployed in the central call centre of the service.
The service has also deployed 18 ambulances as backup to the field ambulances.
