The Chauliaganj police and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials on Wednesday seized more than 100 kg of adulterated paneer in the city and arrested a person in this connection.
According to reports, cops intercepted a bus at the OMP Square here that was on its way from Kolkata to Cuttack and seized the paneer from the vehicle. “The seized paneer is spurious and has been prepared using sulphuric acid, sodium monostearate, flour, glycerine, urea, detergent powder, wastage milk, and palmolein oil. If consumed, it will have adverse effects on the digestive system and functioning of kidney,” a CMC Health Officer said.“The accused used to provide adulterated paneer to traders at cheap prices in the city. A person has been apprehended while efforts are on to ascertain the involvement of others . We are also ascertaining the traders to whom such adulterated paneer was being sold,” a police official said.
