‘Tata Covid Hosp services utterly poor'

Friday, 31 July 2020 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

The Tata Steel’s ultra modern 500-bed-capacity super-specialty hospital spread over an area of 44 acre and having a 20-bed ICU and 15 ventilators located in Sitalapalli village on the outskirts of Brahmapur has failed to provide patient-friendly health services to corona patients.

This was alleged by the social activist and convener of Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch (MASM) advocate Abani Gaya.

Gaya alleged that the hospital remains under strong public anger and distrust for its chaotic management and inferior quality of healthcare service to patients.

Gaya in an open letter addressed to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik mentioned how the tall claims made by the Government about the super speciality hospital have proved hollow since the Government never cares to study its ground realities and its day to day healthcare services provided to the corona patients proved by several videos circulated in social media platforms.

Gaya demanded fixing up of CCTVs in the entire hospital including fixing up a large TV screen outside the hospital building so that, the attendants of the patients will be able to receive day- to-day inputs about the condition of the patients and the quality of healthcare services it provides to patients.

The circulating videos show a number of lapses including improper  management of ventilators, non-visit of doctors, increasing number deaths of patients, poor sanitation, lack of concurrent treatment of patients suffering from other chronic deceases like diabetics, BP, hypertension, etc., and deliberate delay in informing the relatives of patients about their death, Gaya told.
