A seminar on “Role of Journalists in Covid Awareness” was held here on Sunday. Kandhamala MP and founder of KIIT & KISS Achyuta Samants graced the event as chief guest. The daylong seminar was initiated and organised by Kalinga TV.
Samanta said the scribes play a significant role in the society which is crystal clear from the dedicated service they rendered in the recent Covid-19 pandemic to save valuable public life.
The journalists sacrificing their life discharged their duties with utmost sincerity and diligence, he added. "Since Ganjam district is the largest district and one of the most prosperous districts in the State, we are going to open a branch of KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) at village Chamakhandi which will provide free education and free accommodation for more than 200 poor students of Ganjam district," Samanta said.
The speakers said the working journalists played a key role in sensitizing the public through various awareness programmes, timely bringing out the measures initiated by the Government to the public knowledge, making public aware about the lockdown and shutdown restrictions including SoP during the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic in the district.
Among others who joined the seminar included Brahmapur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Aska MP Pramila Bisoyi, Brahmapur MLA Bikram Panda, District BJD president Dr RCC Pattnaik, Subash Maharana; Prof Jayanta Mahapatra and CMD of Kalinga TV Himanshu Sekhar Khatua.
On behalf of the Soundhika Samaj, Prabhakar Sahu and Bhismacharya Choudhury were felicitated with “Achyut Samanta Corona Warrior” citation. Dr Samanta was also felicitated.
