nChief Secretary R.P. Mandal on Thursday instructed all Division Commissioners, District Collectors and Zila Panchayat Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to increase the number of beds in Covid-19 care centres across Chhattisgarh.

Mandal gave the     instruction through video conferencing while chairing a meeting to review          coronavirus treatment and management, an official statement said.

He also called for an increase in the frequency of Covid-19 tests.

Medical College Hospitals of Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur and Ambikapur Colleges shall start RTPCR Covid-19 tests, he said.

People suffering from cold, fever and breathing problems must be given    priority in tests, the senior official said.

Those ailing from         co-morbidity should be    tested on priority, he added.

The Chief Secretary wanted the contract tracing of Covid-19 positive cases speeded up so that the infection rate could be lowered, the communiqué said.

He asked the Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors to implement prohibitory orders strictly where lockdown is still in force.
