India is creating golden chapter in Ayodhya: PM

Thursday, 06 August 2020 | PNS | Ayodhya

The long wait of centuries has ended and India is creating a golden chapter in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing the gathering of select dignitaries mostly seers after laying the foundation stone for the construction of a grand 161-feet tall Ram temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday.

Asserting that “Ram is everywhere, Ram belongs to all”, Modi said the temple symbolises India’s rich heritage and will be an inspiration for all of humanity.

The PM said with the construction of Ram temple, the Ram Janmabhoomi has broken free of a vicious cycle of demolition and resurrection.

“A grand temple will now be built for our Ram Lalla who had been staying in a tent. Today Ram Janmabhoomi breaks free of the cycle of breaking and getting built again that had been going on for centuries,” he said.

He said the Ram Temple will become the modern symbol of our traditions and will depict the Indian culture of mankind. “The entire world is witnessing history being made with the foundation of Ram temple,” he said in speech which started with the chant of “Jai Shri Ram”.

He said this chant is not just echoing in Ayodhya but in the entire world today when everyone is celebrating the occasion in a big way with fulfillment of the dream.

“Our Independence Day - August 15 - holds importance for us because this day we were able to break free from the tyranny of Britishers. August 5 holds the similar significance for millions of devotees who devoted their lives for the cause of Ram temple. I bow to these people and their family members for their sacrifice,” Modi said.

“Lord Ram is reflected in all walks of our lives. During the Independence struggle Ram was in the Bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi. It was in the couplets of Rahim and Guru Nanak. Ram has touched all spheres of our lives. It has taught us that you should be powerful because love emanated only from fear,” he said.

In the construction of this temple history is being repeated. The way boatmen or the Vanar sena helped Lord Ram or the way children helped Lord Krishna to lift Govardhan mountain, similarly with the help of people construction of temple will be completed,” he said.

Modi said that this Ram temple will become a symbol of people’s devotion, their national sentiment. “This temple will also symbolise the power of collective resolution of crores of people. It will keep inspiring future generations. It will reflect the rich heritage of Indian culture. I believe it will inspire the entire humanity till eternity” he said.

Before Bhoomi Pujan, the PM worshiped at the Hanumangarhi and Ram Lalla temples - first time by any Prime Minister of the country.

The Prime Minister said the process of Ram temple’s construction is an attempt to connect the nation. It will be a modern symbol of our culture, eternal faith and national spirit. “It will keep inspiring the future generations. Every heart is illuminated, it is an emotional moment for the entire country. A long wait ends today”, he said.

He even said in several countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Iran and China , Ram katha is very popular in their own traditional way while in Nepal and Sri Lanka they were the part of the Ramayan.

“It is my good fortune that I was invited to witness this historical moment. From Kanyakumari to Kshirbhavani, from Koteshwar to Kamakhya, from Jagannath to Kedarnath, Somnath to Kashi Vishwanath today the entire country is immersed in Lord Ram,” he said.

The PM said that after the construction of Ram temple, not only will the grandeur of Ayodhya increase but the entire economy of the region will also change. New opportunities will be created in every field, he said.

During his speech he also mentioned about the corona pandemic and linked it with Lord Ram’s Maryada. “Ram means maryada. We have adopted the maryada of social distancing and wearing masks, so that corona can be away from us,” he said.

On the occasion, the PM released a commemorative postage stamp on the ‘Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’ in Ayodhya.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in his speech said this is the movement of celebration and it showed the ‘aatmavishwas’ of the country and our hard work for the past 30 years. “We have proved what we can do and what we want to do”, he commented.

“So many people had struggled for the cause but they are not here physically. Advaniji must be at his home watching this. There are some who should have come but could not be invited because of the Covid-19 situation,” he said while asking the people to now dedicate themselves for the completion of the temple.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke on this occasion.
