Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami announced late Monday evening that the complete lockdown in the four districts of Chennai, Chengalpet, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram and the partial lockdown in Madurai which would have come to an end on June 30 has been extended to July 31.
The decision is being seen as a follow up to the two hour long meeting the chief minister had with medical professionals constituting the high power committee.
All Sundays in the month of July would see the State going for “Intensified and complete lockdown”. There would be no intra-district public and private transport operations from July 1 to 15 in Tamil Nadu.
E-pass system for intra-district, inter-district and inter-State movement would continue to be in place.
Travelers planning to visit Chennai or any other places in Tamil Nadu may reschedule their itinerary to another time.
