Days after BCCI president Sourav Ganguli met Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar for around two hours during which he reportedly invited her to inspect the Eden Gardens senior CPI(M) leader and former Bengal Minister Ashok Bhattacharya on Wednesday called on the former India captain.
Bhattacharya a former Mayor of Siliguri Muncipal Corporation who had for decades enjoyed a good chemistry with Ganguli reportedly requested him not to join politics as it was not a place meant for people like him.
The former India south paw reportedly enquired whether the CPI(M) MLA would be contesting elections this time round. A picture of the two leaders chatting at Ganguli’s Behala house was later posted by the former minister.
Earlier Ganguli’s visit to the Governor’s House in what he called a “courtesy call” made a national news even as speculation became rife that the saffron outfit had approached him to become its Chief Ministerial face in the coming 2021 elections.
