Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday charged that after the MVA Government withdrew its general consent to the CBI to investigate cases relating to the State, the BJP-led Union Government was “misusing” the ED to issue notices to its political detractors. Talking to media persons here, Deshmukh alleged that the ruling BJP at the Centre was indulging in “politics of vendetta” against its political rivals. “If anyone speaks against its leaders or criticises the policies of the Narendra Modi government, the BJP forces the ED to send notices to such opposition leaders.
This was the work that the CBI used to do earlier. But, after the state government withdrew general “consent” granted to the CBI to investigate the cases relating to Maharashtra. Now the CBI has to take permission from the state government before it investigates any case in Maharashtra.”
“The BJP is misusing ED for its political reasons. We have never seen this kind of politics at any point of time in the country,” Deshmukh said.
