Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, in the virtual presence of Rahul Gandhi and Motilal Vora, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dr Charandas Mahanta, unveiled the foundation stone for the construction of new building of Chhattisgarh Assembly in Nava Raipur.

This building will be built on 51 acres of land behind Mahanadi and Indravati Bhawan in Sector 19 of Nava Raipur, at a cost of about Rs 270 crore. The main building will be constructed in 52,497 square meters.

On the occasion, Sonia Gandhi extended hearty congratulations to people of Chhattisgarh for the new building of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha and said Legislative Assembly and Parliament are the biggest pillars and sacred temples of democracy. But we need to remember that it is the sentiments that protect the Constitution and not the buildings.

Talking about the present scenario of the country, Sonia Gandhi said hate forces have become a major challenge in front of the country and society. Freedom of Speech is in danger, democratic institutions are getting weaker. Hate mongers are forcing people of various sections of the society to remain silent. They want to silence the voice of nation.
