The decomposed body of an unidentified woman has been found by police in Maharashtra's Palghar district, a police official said on Sunday.
Some passersby experienced foul smell in Sativali Khind area here on Saturday and alerted the police.
Later, the police went to the area and found the decomposed body of a woman, believed to be around 30 to 35 years of age, the official said.
The police suspect the woman was killed by some persons elsewhere and the body was dumped at the spot where it was found.
The body was sent for postmortem and a case was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), the official said.
