Deepika replaces Kiran Rao

Actress Deepika Padukone has replaced producer Kiran Rao as the chairperson of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), which organises the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star.

“Kiran Rao had decided to step down (as the chairperson of MAMI) because she wanted to focus on making a movie. We were all thinking through names and everybody felt that Deepika Padukone was the right person. She is a wonderful artiste. Now, she is also a producer,” said Anupama Chopra, Festival Director, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

“She has been part of MAMI. She has been on the board for a few years and has been extremely supportive. So, we all requested her to take the position and she said 'yes,’” she added.

Deepika was selected by the board members of MAMI.

‘Body shaming has started from media, beauty magazines back in the year 2000 where people began the talk about getting a flawless body and skin using certain beauty product. Fashion and beauty magazines had started promoting the unrealistic idea and desire of getting a perfect body.’

Veteran actor Jackie Shroff says he wants to work on both —the digital space and in films for the big screen.

He has appeared in more than 200 films in 11 languages.

He also did a short film Khujli for the digital space and voiced the character of Shere Khan in the Hindi version of Andy Serkis' Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle on Netflix.

Jackie said, “I am an actor who has been in the industry for last over 30 years. I used to do three films a day. I am open to do a lot of things. For me it is like acceptance... I want to do everything.”

Ashton yearns for real connection

Actor Ashton Kutcher posted his phone number on social media, saying that he misses having a real connection with real people.

In a now-deleted tweet, the actor wrote, “I miss having a real connection with real people. My community. From now on, you can just text me. I won't be able to respond to everyone but at least we can be real with each other and I can share the unedited latest and greatest in my world.”

Kutcher added his phone number and said: “This is my number” in case anyone had doubts. A few hours later, he deleted the tweet, said: “Changing my social media strategy, starting tomorrow. Stay tuned. I will repost soon. SMS is a fragile beast.”
