Gupta accuses Kejriwal of stalling development work

Sunday, 31 March 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta said that ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP's) national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, has stalled infrastructural development work in four years of his Government. Citing Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojna, Gupta alleged that not even a single street or road has been built. "Kejriwal Govt made a provision of Rs 1,000 crores for the financial year 2018-19 for Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojna, but not even a single penny has been spent on this scheme so far. No street or road has been built in Delhi under this scheme, when in most of Delhi's residential areas, the condition of streets / roads is going bad to worst. Kejriwal should tell if Union Govt or the BJP has created any hurdle to implement the scheme?" BJP leader asked.

Gupta said that Kejriwal Govt made a provision of Rs 1,000 crores for the financial year 2018-19 for Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojna, but not even a penny has been spent on this scheme so far.

Citing the pathetic condition of public transportation, the BJP leader said that the poor condition of public transport system is not hidden from anyone.

"Contrary to the requirement of 11 thousand buses in Delhi today, the number of buses available in DTC fleet is less than 3,900. Due to the weak public transport system, the people of Delhi are forced to use private vehicles, whose increasing numbers is increasing pollution in Delhi," said Gupta, adding, "In spite of this, CM Kejriwal kept files relating to Phase IV of Delhi Metro in cold storage for long just for his personal egos and has recently given assent for the same with conditions. Similarly, he did not give his Govt's approval for RRTS till he was forced to release money for it by the court."
