The Delhi Police has arrested two members of 'Gouri Gang' in Delhi who, on direction of gang leader, used to recruit young boys in the gang. Police said the duo are diehard fans of pop singer Honey Singh. They used to copy dancing style of the singer and post their dancing videos brandishing pistols on social sites with a hope that more young boys would get enticed to join the gang and they can be their leader.
Both the criminals even had copied hairstyle of "Yo Yo Honey Singh". They have been identified as Shahjada (24) alias Parvez, a resident of JJ Colony in Delhi's Uttam Nagar. The other criminal is Monu (23), alias Aakash, a resident of village Budela Market, Vikaspuri, Delhi.
According to Anto Alphonse, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district, on March 29, the police had received specific inputs about the criminals, possessing illegal weapons, and were linked to Gouri gang of Uttam Nagar. They had circulated their video on social media in order to become famous and both were roaming in Dwarka's Vipin Garden area.
"Following the tip off, a trap was laid near Vipin Gardern area and the duo were apprehended by the police team," said the DCP.
"During interrogation, the accused disclosed that both of them had girlfriends and used to spend their entire earnings on gifts to the girls. Lust for easy money brought them closer to criminals and they got associated with the notorious Gouri gang of Uttam Nagar. The gang provided weapons to them and the gang leaders tasked them with luring more youths in the fold," said the DCP.
"The duo used to roam on roads and used to join social functions with arms and used to brandish weapons to impress the other boys. They were fans of singer YoYo Honey Singh and also copied the hair style of the singer. They had just shot a video, one week back, where they can be seen brandishing pistol at a social function. They hoped that more young boys would get enticed to join the Gouri gang and they can be their leader," said the DCP.
"Police have recovered two country made pistols with live cartridges from the possession of the accused. A case, under section 25 of Arms act, has been registered at Mohan Nagar police station. Further investigation is going on," the DCP added.
