Yogi slams Congress’ talks of development

Tuesday, 30 April 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Hitting out at Congress leadership, particularly Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the party which could not develop Rae Bareli and Amethi was now dreaming of taking India on the path of development.

“The mother and son duo in Congress are talking about developing India. How can they talk about this when they left their own constituencies, from where they were winning for last many years,  in the lurch,” Yogi said while addressing an election rally in Rae Bareli on Monday.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have won elections from Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively for many terms. In Rae Bareli, BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh is in the fray against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi while in Amethi, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani has locked horns with Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Yogi said that the people had made up their mind to bring BJP back to power with Narendra Modi as prime minister of the country.

“In UP, polling has been held in 39 constituencies so far after four phases of poll and the BJP will win 36 of the seats. The party has set a target to win 74 out of 80 seats and we will achieve this target,” he said.

In the 2004 parliamentary elections, the BJP and its allies had won 73 seats.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress leadership talked about development but the fact was that it had always surrendered before terrorism.  When Batala House encounter took place, members of a royal family in Congress were in tears, he said.

“People of Rae Bareli and Amethi are deprived of basic facilities because of this royal family. The members of this family never shed a tear when youth of this area were forced to go out to earn their living. The fact is the Congress has always been anti-people,” he said.

Yogi said that the people of Rae Bareli and Amethi started getting recognition only when BJP came to power. “Without any bias, we implemented the policies and brought smiles on the faces of the poor and the downtrodden,” the Chief Minister said.

Addressing rallies in Dumahriyadih block of Gonda, Yogi said the condition of roads around Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich and Shrawasti was so bad during Akhilesh Yadav’s regime that people faced hardship while moving on roads. “We have tried to set the things right.  Roads are being repaired and people are getting good remunerative prices for their produce,” he said.

BJP candidate from Gonda, Kirtivardhan Singh, and party candidate from Kaiserganj, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, were present in the rally.

Addressing a rally in Pratapgarh, Yogi said no one was being allowed to play with the country’s security under the Narendra Modi government.

“In the five years of the Modi government, be it the issue of national security or internal security or the (economic) growth, the development is being seen everywhere. No one is being allowed to play with the security of the country today,” the Chief Minister said.
