Making a major announcement, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Sunday that his government would revise the reservations status in state within a month after 2021 census.
Baghel was addressing a function of Scheduled Caste community here at Balbeer Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium organised to felicitate him for increasing SC’s quota in the state from 12% to 13%.
Further stating about his increasing reservations to Scheduled Caste community, he said that he had not done any favour to the community but had actually given them their due right as per the provisions of the Constitution.
Rs Rs Today the state has the highest percentage figure of reservations and most importantly is that there is no resentment and any anti-reservation movement in the state because it is the birthplace of noted social reformer Guru Baba Ghasidas. Here people live with harmony, mutual love and brotherhood,’’ he claimed.
Hitting out at previous BJP-led Raman Singh government, Baghel said Rs Rs it had intentionally slashed down the SC’s quota from 16% to 12% even though the 2011 census data of higher percentage were available’’.
Scheduled Caste leader and Minister for Urban Administration Shiv Kumar Daharia presided over the function while Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Mohan Markam was present as the guest.
