The IMD office in Ranchi has predicted showers primarily in southern and central parts of the state, including the Kolhan region between May 1 and 4 . "The cyclonic storm in southeast Bay of Bengal has gained strength. It is going to convert into a severe cyclone and will pass along the Odisha coast impacting Jharkhand's weather. The cyclonic storm was today lay centered 870 Km southeast of Chennai ( Tamil Nadu) and 1,040 Km southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh)," said a senior meteorologist at Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
According to the senior Met official, the cyclonic storm is going to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and later into a very severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours and move northwestwards towards the Odisha coast.
Southern Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur, would witness overcast skies from May 1 while Ranchi and several other places in central and north eastern region is expected to get clouds and rain between May 2 and 4.
