Trade union leaders held a meeting here on Sunday to plan strategies to make nationwide Bharat Bandh, to be held on January 8, 2020, a grand success in the district.
Former MLAs Arun Dey and Pradipta Panda and trade unions leaders of AITUC, CITU, INTUC, NFITU and HMS attended the meeting.
They said said they take to the street to press for fulfillment of all 12 demands. They alleged that the Union Government has adopted anti poor and labour policies and are dividing people on the basis of religion.
They too alleged that the Centre has failed in controlling price rise in essential commodities and providing jobs to youths.
The other demands include stopping of retrenchment of workers, provision of uniform wages for same works, withdrawal of contractual engagement, giving Government employee status to the scheme workers, provision of minimum monthly salary of Rs 21,000 for workers, Rs 10,000 pension after retirement and payment of adequate MSP to the farmers for paddy and other crops.
Among others, Gournga Panigrahi, Arun Swain, Bhagabat Pratihari, Santanu Das, Premaranjan Patra and Nikunjabasanta Rai were present.
