The International Youth Committee (IYC) conferred Dr Tirupati Panigrahi with the prestigious Mandela Peace Prize 2019 in New Delhi in recognition of his contributions to uplift education in the poor tribal region of Paralakhemundi amongst the two other notables like Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
The prize was handed over to Panigrahi by President of International Youth Committee (IYC) Jayanta Patra.
“I want to dedicate this award to the people of my birthplace Paralakhemundi and my State of Odisha. I am very happy as the world recognised my efforts for last many decades to promote and develop education in my poor region of Gajapati. This is truly the blessings of Lord Jagannath,” said Panigrahi.
