The number of commuters availing the touch-enabled Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) facility at Ranchi Railway station has shown a small yet considerable increase in the last six months. According to the Commercial Statistics of Ranchi Booking Office, the figure has gone up by approximately 27 per cent from December 2018 when the facility was newly installed.
The Chief Commercial Inspector of Ranchi Station, Dinesh Kumar shared the statistical data of the number of passengers and the booking option availed at the station. From 413 passengers opting for ATVM service in December 2018, Ranchi Station has recorded 11,708 passengers booking from ATVM in the previous month.
Although the ratio of the passengers booking from ATVM to that of the total passenger booking is not very high, the report confirms the rising trend in the number of ATVM bookings.Approximately 3.51 per cent of the total passenger booking accounts for the ATVM bookings for the months of April, May and June.
A sharp rise was recorded in the month of March this year with 13,059 passengers availing this service for booking of unserved train tickets.
