The Booknerds and Penguin India collaborated to honour the legendary author Roald Dahl at an event organised here on Sunday. The best-selling children's author would have been 103 this month, and the event commemorated this with a day of fun activities.
Rohan and Neha Raj, co-founders of The Booknerds, a literary startup which was started to promote reading said, “Reading is fun but also of paramount significance.”
Roald Dahl was a spy, an ace fighter pilot, a chocolate historian and a medical inventor.
He was also the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, and a treasury of original, evergreen, and beloved children’s books. He remains for many the world’s number one storyteller.
The event was also attended by students from Kasiga School, Oasis School and Purkul Youth Development Society.
The children read their favourite excerpts from the books, discussed their favourite characters, designed their own bookmarks, coloured some Roald Dahl themed illustrations and played some fun games.
The contest winners were awarded Roald Dahl themed goodies by Neha Raj.
The session also featured Anubha, a storyteller who regaled the
children with Roald Dahl stories.
The session was moderated by The Booknerds team member Vidushi.
The Booknerds shall be meeting next for the launch of Tanmay Dubey's novel ‘The Red Line’ on October 6.
