The famous biennial Maa Budhi Thakurani Yatra, which was being held here since March 29, concluded Sunday night with the goddess’ Ghata (soul) moving from the temporary shelter to the temple in a grand procession.
The Goddess stayed in her parental house at Deshi Behera Sahi for a total of 32 days before she moved to her permanent abode, located about one-and-a-half km away.
The temporary platform, where the Goddess was seated, witnessed heavy rush of crowds each evening.
A host of Kunjas (Mandaps of idols of gods and goddesses based on Hindu Purans) erected at Deshi Behera Sahi, Bada Bazaar and other nearby streets and folk arts were other attractions of the people. Apart from local residents, devotees from far and wide thronged the city to offer prayers to the Goddess and enjoy the yatra.
The Buddha Besha procession taken out from Bijipur by the Buddha Prachar Sangha too attracted people on the eve of concluding ceremony. The chanting of “Buddham Saranam Gachhami” created an ambience of serenity in the city.
