Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board on the auspicious occasion of Madhya Pradesh’s 64 th Foundation day, in association with City Explorers, New Delhi and District Archaeological Tourism Council going to organise Special City Walk on November 01, 2019, under city walks Festival in 11 major cities (Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Panna, Vidisha, Khajuraho, Chanderi, Jabalpur, Burhanpur, Orchha) of Madhya Pradesh.
In Bhopal this Heritage City Walk will start from Old Kamla Park, Bhopal at 7 am and will ends at Sadar Manzil via Gauhar Mahal, Iqbal Maidan.
MD of the Board Faiz Ahmed Quidwai said, “Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board’s initiative of organising the City Walks Festival in Madhya Pradesh is our commitment to promote tourism activities in the state, our inheritance is our history and is also a testimony of our culture and traditions. Join us in this great initiative and help us contribute towards the invaluable legacy of Madhya Pradesh by creating awareness and vivid experiences around them for local and global travellers.”
It is significant that Madhya Pradesh City Walk Festival is going on from October 12, 2019, city Walks are being organized every weekend simultaneously in 11 districts of the state. More than 50 walks have been conducted on 12, 13, 19 and 20 October in which more than 1000 participants have participated, which includes many unique walks and experiences. Walks were based on the city’s history, heritage, monuments, architecture, museum, photography, nature, food etc.
The walks are being conducted simultaneously at each destination during weekends. So far, over 50 walks have been successfully conducted in 11 cities on October 12, 13, 19 & 20 which included many unique walks and experiences delivered to over 1000 participants. The walks include Heritage walks, food walks, spiritual trails, architectural walks, art trails museum tours, photo walks cycle tours and nature trails. Some of the most interesting experiences have been as following- women and food walk in Indore, museum tour in Bhopal, food walk and boat ride in Jabalpur, diamond quest walk in
Panna, spiritual walks in Ujjain, nature trail in Vidisha, Photo walk in Gwalior, Culture walk in Burhanpur, Temple trail in Khajuraho and weaving trail in Chanderi. Participants of all age groups have appreciated the concept and believed that it is indeed a great way for them to learn about their cities once again in one of the most unique ways.
Many residents who have lived in the cities and surrounding for many years and some all their life, said that they were totally un aware of the importance of buildings and traditions which seemed very usual till now. People are falling in love with their cities again.
City walks are conducted with the objective of changing the perception about the place and city as whole, the participant will see & know the place with a different angle and will realize the importance and uniqueness.
