Non-distribution of egg in schools in tribal districts as per decision of the state government again led to a heated discussion on Friday, the fifth day of winter session of Chhattisgarh State Assembly.
Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant directed minister concerned to probe the quality of soymilk after concerns raised by members.
BJP MLA Dr Krishnamurti Bandhi during Question Hour raised the issue of non-distribution of egg in tribal districts while sub-standard/outdated soya milk is being distributed in the state. He claimed that several children had fell ill after consumption of milk while in Durg, children had to throw it. Bandhi said there is no scientific system to supply soymilk in the state.
Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik adding to it said at Balrampur, Bastar, Korba, Koriya, Jashpur, Sukma, Kanker and Surajpur no distribution has taken place as pointed out by the minister’s reply.
He said distribution is limited to urban areas but where it needs the most, there is no distribution. He sought reason for non-distribution.
School education minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam said government is committed for distribution of eggs to reduce malnutrition among the children in the state.
It is responsibility of school committee and local bodies, the funds can be utilized from DMF and other schemes. He said the soymilk can be kept in general temperature for 90 days.
