Septuagenarian commits suicide

A 79-year-old man committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at his house in Saket Nagar under Govindpura police station area on Tuesday; a suicide note has been recovered in which deceased has appealed police not to harass anyone.

Police said that the deceased NP Thomas committed suicide at his house. The deceased was a retired government employee and was ill for long.  In the initial investigation police found that wife of Thomas after spotting the body informed her son-in-law and later police were informed. In the suicide note which has been recovered deceased took the responsibility of his suicide and has appealed police not to harass anyone.

The body was sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and started further investigation.

During the investigation police found that the deceased used to live with his wife and was suffering from illness for long. The reason would be investigated and the statements of the family members would be recorded. The deceased was section officer and posted at Secretariat. Police said that the victim was suffering from several diseases and was feeling harassed over his illness which was also revealed by his wife in her statement.
