The month of September will be celebrated as National Nutrition Month this year also under the National Nutrition Campaign in the State.
The tag line of the Nutrition Month, celebrated from 1 to 30 September, is “Har Ghar poshan ka Tyohar”.
Various programmes will be held throughout the month to provide nutrition awareness and make it a mass movement at the state, district, development block and anganwadi level.
The main objective of the National Nutrition Month is to promote awareness in the community on health and nutrition needs, pregnancy test and nutritional care, early breastfeeding behaviour, complementary diet at the proper time and continuity etc.
In addition, the subject of nutrition has to be given the form of mass movement through iron intake and measures related to variety of food to overcome anemia and monitoring of the physical growth of children up to five years, adolescent education, the right to nutrition education, timely marriage and activities of cleanliness and hygiene.
To make the Nutrition Month a success, the Women and Child Development Department apart from Urban Administration and Development, Panchayat and Rural Development, School Education, Food-Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Public Health Engineering, Higher Education, State Rural Livelihood Mission, National Health Mission, Doordarshan, Radio, All India Radio and Development Partners (UNICEF, GIZ, WWH CHAI, Piramal Foundation, NI ACF, Nutrition Board, Lupin) etc.will take part.
Information of all the activities to be held in the Nutrition Month will be updated on the central portal and will be reviewed daily through the website.
