Two unidentified miscreants attacked a journalist near the Pattamundai Municipality office in the district on Wednesday injuring him critically.
Kumaresh Nayak, who is working for a vernacular daily, was admitted to the Pattamundai Hospital.
According to sources, two unknown persons attacked Nayak with an axe in Pattamundai area. However, they ran away leaving their motorbike behind after some locals rushed to rescue Nayak.
Nayak sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to the nearby hospital by the rescuers, sources added.
A case has been registered in this regard by the Pattamundai police.
