Social organisation, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) has been conducting cleaning drive on a mission mode in Baleswar district. Since 2014, about 100 members of the Gopalpur-based outfit have been continuing safai (cleanliness) and awareness among the villagers, places of rituals, market places, railway stations and picnic spots etc on every Sunday at least for two hours.
On their 228th weekly movement, the members cleaned the Panchalingeswar Siva shrine premises and picnic spot on last Sunday and created awareness among the tourists, local people and vendors to discard polythene and make the shrine open defecation free. The act of the volunteer has been highly appreciated by the local administration, people’s representatives and common people. SBA convener Sudarsan Mohapatra said that the weekly programme this time was dedicated to the martyrs of Pulwama for whom two minutes silent prayer was observed at the work site. Senior members like Abhiram Sahu, Harish Jena, Prasant Das, Sudhakara Das, Satyamanjari Dash, Labanya Mishra, Sanjukta Dash, Jasoda Kajhi and Barendra Sethi led the prog.
