State Congress president Niranjan Patnaik sees a conspiracy behind the move for abolition of the Odisha Administrative Tribunal.
Patnaik has alleged that the State Government is, in collusion with certain IAS officers, conspiring to abolish the State Administrative Tribunal. This would adversely affect lakhs of Government employees seeking justice against any injustice done to them, he said.
Strongly condemning the move, Patnaik said that realising the need for an easy and cheap justice delivery system for the aggrieved serving and retired employees, the erstwhile Congress Government had created the tribunal in 1986.
“If the Administrative Tribunal is abolished, the employees will have no other way but to move the High Court which will prove costly and time-consuming for them”, he said.
Patnaik alleged that often the erring Departmental Secretaries are dragged to the tribunal to explain their unjust acts and for contempt of court for not implementing the tribunal’s orders. The Government is trying to save such officers by demolishing the tribunal, he alleged.
“In case the Government embarks upon such an unfortunate decision, the Congress, if returned to power, will reconstitute the tribunal”, the PCC president said.
