The supporters of a BJD ticket aspirant for the Paradip Assembly constituency on Thursday held a demonstration before the Naveen Niwas protesting the allocation of ticket to Damodar Rout’s son Sambit Routray for the seat.
Sources said the supporters of Santosh Kumar Pattnaik, who had come in a convoy of more than 70 vehicles, held the demonstration and shouted slogans demanding that the party cancel the candidature of Sambit.
Earlier in the day, a group of BJD activists opposed the candidature of Rajnanagar MLA candidate Dhruba Sahu.
They said the ticket of Sahu should be cancelled because of his poor track record; otherwise, they would oppose party’s Kendrapada MP candidate Anubhav Mohanty in the district.
The supporters of Bari BJD leader and party State secretary Bijay Nayak held a rally near the Chief Minister’s residence demanding that Nayak be allotted the Assembly ticket for the constituency instead of sitting MLA Debasish Nayak.
