The Ganjam Soochana Adhikar Milita Manch and the Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch on Tuesday held a demonstration at Khallikote College Square here opposing the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
The associations also submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India urging him to withhold assent to the Bill and return it to the Parliament for its reconsideration.
The Manch alleged that the Central Government is trying to undermine the independence of the Information Commissions and said that due to the move corruption in the country would increase.
Among others, Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch convenor Abani Kumar Gaya, Sankar Sahu, Raja Suresh, Kishore Chandra Patro, Shyam Sundar, Khadanga, Maguni Nahak and Bibhu Prasad Sahu were present.
