Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, as part of RSS Vishesh Sampark (special outreach mission), is to visit Ramrekha Dham in Simdega district—the holy place associated with Lord Rama on Wednesday. Bhagwat reached Ranchi on Tuesday and on Wednesday, he will leave for Simdega. In Ramrekha Dham, the RSS chief will meet Baba Umakant Maharaj the head of the religious math.
The Vishesh Sampark programme was started in 2007, but has grown significantly in last few years after Bhagwat took the reign of RSS. To increase its acceptability, especially among the intelligentsia, Bhagwat has been meeting religious heads, educationists, diplomats, industrialists, artists, journalists, traders and people from different fields. Bhagwat during his one day visit to Ramrekha Dham will meet Baba Umakant Maharaj and will also have discussion with representatives of Ramrekha Dham Vikash Samiti and Hindu Dhram Raksha Samiti. As per Hindu mythological, Ramrekha Dham is associated with Lord Rama. People say that Lord Rama during his 14 years Banwas (exile) had visited the area along with Sita, Laxman. The place also has some archeological structures like agni kund, charan paduka, sita chulha, gupt Ganga among others.
According to RSS sources, Bhagwat last year as part of Vishesh Sampark progarmme had visited Deoghar and met Thakur Anukul Chandra. An RSS functionary requesting anonymity said, “The itinerary of Bhagwat visit to Ramrekha Dham was chalked out last year when he had visited Ranchi meeting saints and religious heads of various institutions. The Ramrekha Dham head Baba Umakant Maharaj had invited Bhagwat to visit the religious site which the RSS chief had gladly accepted.”
