The BJP on Saturday alleged that the Potato Mission has completely failed in the State and a whopping Rs 300 crore has been looted from the exchequer in the name of the mission. “The BJD Government has not set up a single cold store during the last 19 years of its rule. Odisha still imports potato from other States to meets its needs. The Potato Mission initiated by the Government has failed to deliver. Rather Rs 300 crore has been looted away from the State exchequer in the name of Patato Mission,” alleged BJP State general secretary Prithviraj Harichanda at a Press meet here.
He said Minister and officers visited foreign countries like Peru, Dubai to gain knowledge about potato cultivation. This way, State funds have been looted away, he said.
Harichandan further alleged that the State Government has not kept its promise of establishing a cold storage in every block. Production of potato is decreasing every year. The BJD should make a reply in this regard in the public, he demanded. Party secretary Dr Jatin Mohanty and Krusham Morch general secretary Surath Biswal were present.
