State Congress in-charge RPN Singh will reach State Capital on Monday on three-day visit, during which he will be attending the Gandhi Jayanti function being organised by Congress party, apart from having discussion on poll preparations for year-end Assembly election.
The Congress in-charge is going to held meeting with senior party leaders including Congress chief Rameshwar Oraon and others at State party headquarters. State Congress spokesperson, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said, “The Congress in-charge during the three day visit to State Capital will participate at Gandhi jayanti function to be organized by the Congress party.
He will also hold discussion with senior leaders assessing the poll preparations for year-end Assembly election.” Shahdeo said, “The senior Congress leader will also give necessary directives and guidelines to party leaders for Assembly election.”
Sources said that Singh is likely to ask his party leaders to strengthen base at grass- root level apart from giving momentum to ongoing Congress membership drive. The Congress is carrying out membership drive at rural areas, holding functions at village level. Sources said that RPN Singh is also likely to have discussion with its party leaders to have an alliance with JMM, JVM and RJD or to go alone in the election.
Sources said that before forging an alliance with JMM, JVM and RJD, the Congress in-charge want to have a discussion gathering feedback whether the party wants to go in election with alliance or contest independently. Sources in State Congress claimed that a group in State Congress is in favour of contesting the election independently so as to strengthen its cadre base.
A senior State Congress leader requesting anonymity said, “In last general elections we have seen that despite contesting election on alliance it failed to yield much, at the same time sharing seats with alliance partners there is resentment among party cadres if the seat is allotted to alliance partners.”
The leader’s statement assumes importance RPN’s itinerary does not include meeting with JMM or JVM leadership. Also, the Congress, JMM and JVM have separately launched their poll campaign.
JMM executive president and former chief minister Hemant Soren is on Badlao Yatra moving different parts of State, while the JVM chief Babulal Marandi last week sounded poll bugle in state with Janadesh Samagam.
In 2014 Assembly election too there was no alliance with any parties. BJP and AJSU contested the election in alliance. The Congress was in alliance with RJD, while JMM and JVM were not the part of any alliance.
