All is not going well in opposition party’s recently formed Grand Alliance as former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday reiterated that there was no question of retreating from its stand of contesting the Chatra parliamentary seat here. Besides Chatra, the party will contest Palamu.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav will visit Jharkhand on April, 5 to take part in RJD candidate’s nomination programme in Chatra, said RJD’s State president Gautam Sagar Rana.
According to the seat sharing agreement of the Grand Alliance, out of total 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, the Congress will contest seven seats, the JMM will contest four seats while the JVM-P will contest from two seats and RJD from one seat.
Congress will field its candidates for Ranchi, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Chaibasa, Lohardaga and Chatra, while JMM will contest from Dumka, Rajmahal, Giridih and Jamshedpur and JVM will contest from Koderma and Godda.
Just three days earlier, defying the seat sharing formula of the alliance, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi gave the Chatra ticket to Subhash Yadav in Patna.
The State unit of the party called its working committee meeting today to show solidarity after renouncement of former party State presidents Annapurna Devi and Girinath Singh. After the renouncement of Devi the party has nominated Gautam Sagar Rana as the State unit president.
“As our vote base in Palamu and Chatra is very strong we insisted before the time of inception of the alliance that the party will contest from both the seats. We have given the party symbol to the party worker Subhash Yadav so there is no question to revert the decision,” said Rana..
The party convened the working committee meeting to chalk out future strategy in upcoming general election.
“Both the candidates, from Palamu and Chatra, were present during the meeting. As the party has announced earlier, Subhash Yadav will contest the Chatra seat. The candidate’s name for Palamu seat is not yet confirmed. Former MP, Ghuran Ram will likely be nominated for it,” he added.
